When listing any product on Elgato Marketplace, it's essential to ensure that the media gallery and preview requirements are met to present the product in the best possible way.

When listing any product on Elgato Marketplace, it's essential to make sure that the media gallery and preview requirements are met to present the product in the best possible way.

This can help increase the chances of a successful sale. Below is an overview of requirements for gallery media/previews when listing a product.

Visit the Elgato Media Room for official media kit images to use in your thumbnails and gallery images.

  • The aspect ratio for gallery images should be 2:1.

  • The preferred resolution for gallery images is 1920 x 960 pixels. This ensures that the images are high quality and can be enlarged without becoming pixelated.

  • Images should be in PNG format.

  • Offer multiple images of your product. We recommend at least 3 images.

    • Show off customization options: If your product has different colors, variations, or other customization options, make sure to include images of each option. This will give customers a better idea of what the product looks like in different variations and can help them decide which one to purchase.

    • Show detailed images of features: If your product has unique features or functions, make sure to highlight them in separate images. This will give customers a clear understanding of what the product can do and how it works.

    • Include images of the User interface: If your product supports software or an application, include screenshots of the user interface. This will give customers an idea of the user experience and navigation.

    • Show product in action: If possible, include images or videos of the product being used in real-world scenarios. This will help customers visualize how they might use the product and can be especially effective for products that are difficult to understand or explain through static images alone.

Be sure to add Alt text to your images.
  • When creating alt text, it's important to keep it brief, descriptive, and relevant to the image. Avoid using "image of" or "picture of" and try to use keywords in the image's description that can help SEO.

  • Accessibility: Alt text is used by screen readers to describe the image to visually impaired users, allowing them to understand the image's content. This makes the website more accessible to users with disabilities and helps them navigate the page.

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Alt text helps search engines understand the content of an image and can improve the page's visibility in search engine results. This can help drive more traffic to the website.

  • Fallback Content: In the case an image is not loaded, or if the user is on a slow internet connection the alt text will be shown instead. This is useful, as the user will still have an idea of what the image should be depicting.

  • Improved User Experience: Having appropriate alt text can also help improve the user experience for all visitors to a website, regardless of whether or not they have any visual impairments.

  • The most successful products use rich imagery to visually tell a story. This means you should try to reach your potential customers with powerful screenshots/images so that you can engage them to download or purchase your product. The story that you should tell is how your product is going to solve their problem.

  • You can add up to 10 images to your product's gallery.

Videos Previews

Videos are a great way to show creators what your product looks like in action and are great for products such as animated graphics, alerts, overlays, and transitions.

  • The aspect ratio for video presentations should be 16:9.

  • Video resolution for video content is 1920 x 1080 pixels.

  • Video thumbnails are sized to match the gallery images and are 1920 x 960 pixels.*

  • File size should not exceed 250MB, compressed.

  • Videos should be in .mp4 file format.

*Video Thumbnails:

Your video thumbnail image will be cropped vertically compared (16:9 to 2:1).

Video thumbnail images must be 1920 wide by 960 pixels high (the same as Media Gallery/Previews) in a .PNG format. The Marketplace uses a 2:1 ratio for thumbnails and gallery images and will optimize/resize the image for various viewing sizes
